What do I need to do at security checks when travelling to/from London?

When travelling to/from London, there are security checks at your departure station before boarding your train. The process is similar to what you do when you fly. You’ll go through a metal detector and your belongings will get screened through an x-ray machine.
You may be asked to empty your pockets and remove certain items from your luggage. Please read on to find out what to expect at your departure station.

Departure from Paris Gare du Nord or Lille Europe

Please take all electronic items (laptops, tablets, cameras, game consoles, and other smaller devices, e.g. chargers) out of your bag and place them in a tray on the scanner’s conveyor belt.

Departure from London St Pancras International, Rotterdam Centraal or Amsterdam Centraal

If you’re wearing a belt or smartwatch, or carrying a phone or loose change in your pocket,  please place them in a tray on the scanner’s conveyor belt. All other items can be left in your bag(s).

Departure from Brussels-Midi/Zuid

If you’re carrying anything in your pockets, please place these items in a tray or in your luggage. All other items can be left in your bag(s).

Do you have a pacemaker?

If you have a pacemaker, please inform the security team at any of our departure stations before going through the metal detector. You may be asked to show your medical device ID card.
